Medical Assistant Schools in Minnesota

If you have been considering entering the field of medical assisting in Minnesota, you are definitely on the right track. Medical assisting is one of the fastest growing career fields in the country, and it is one of the most promising in Minnesota. According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, Minnesota is above average in employment of medical assistants and offers some of the highest medical assistant salaries in the country. The BLS reports that there are currently between 7,160 and 13,860 medical assistants currently working in the state. In addition, medical assistants in Minnesota earn average salaries of between $32,400 and $39,610 a year, plus benefits. This is quite a bit above the national average for the profession.

Before you can take advantage of the abundant opportunities offered to medical assistants in the state, you must get the proper career training. There are many excellent colleges and schools in the state that offer medical assistant training at every level from certificate to associate’s degrees. When selecting a school, it is a good idea to choose one that has received accreditation through either the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Graduating from a program with one of these accreditations qualifies you to take the Certified Medical Assistant examination. While certification is not currently required, attaining this credential shows potential employers that you have met rigorous training standards and that you are highly qualified in the medical assisting field.
