Medical Assistant Schools in New Hampshire

New Hampshire, located in the far Northeast, is an excellent state in which to become a medical assistant. While the state’s overall employment of medical assistants is somewhat low, those who are fortunate enough to find a position in the field enjoy excellent salaries that are above the national average for the profession.  The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, or BLS, reports that there are currently between 40 and 2,080 medical assistants working in New Hampshire. This places the state in the lowest tier for medical assistant employment. However, the average salary for medical assistants is between $30,870 and $32,380 a year. That is higher than the national average for the profession. In addition, the BLS predicts that the medical assisting career field will experience around 30% growth over the next ten years. With this growth, there will be increasing numbers of open jobs and likely a raise in average salaries across the state.

If you want to get in on this exciting and promising career field, the first thing you must do is to get a formal education. There are several good schools in New Hampshire that offer medical assistant training at various levels. When choosing a program, it is a good idea to look for those that are accredited by either the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). In order to get accredited through one of these organizations, schools must prove that they have met rigorous training and education standards. When you graduate from a program with these accreditations, you are eligible to sit for the Certified Medical Assistant examination after you graduate.
